Hey, guys! 🐾💖
Today, I’m going to talk about a topic that everyone with a pet knows well: bathing your dog! I’m Mary, and I have Max, my high-energy mutt, and Lola, my cocker who loves cuddles (but hates water, believe me)! I’ve been through several funny and even some frustrating situations during their baths, and I wanted to share with you 10 tips I learned from them to ensure bath time is much more peaceful and fun. Come along with me!
1. Prepare Everything Before You Start
Whenever I’m giving Max or Lola a bath, I make sure everything is ready: the shampoo, towel, brush, and of course, a treat for them at the end. At first, I would always forget something and end up running around while they were in the tub, which wasn’t fun at all. Max, especially, gets anxious just seeing the water. 😅
2. Use a Dog-Specific Shampoo
Oh, guys, I’ve made the mistake of using my shampoo on Max and Lola... and it was a disaster! Their skin became dry, and they smelled weird afterward. 😩 Now, I only use dog-specific shampoo, which not only cleans them well but also leaves them smelling all nice and pet-like. Max even seems to know when it’s the right shampoo because he behaves so much better during bath time!
3. Bathe Your Dog with Warm Water
No cold water, okay! I learned this the hard way because in winter, I tried bathing Max with cold water, and he’d start shaking. Lola was also really uncomfortable. Now, I always use warm water, and they love it! Max even stays still while I wash him. 😅
4. Don’t Use the Hose Directly on Their Body
When I first started bathing them, I tried using the hose for everything, even to wet their bodies, but Max was scared of the water pressure. Now, I use a bucket and pour the water slowly, which makes him more relaxed. If your pet is scared of the hose, my tip is to try something gentler!
5. Wash Their Paws with a Special Brush
This is one of the most recent tips, but it worked wonders! I started washing Max and Lola’s paws with a soft brush, and I noticed a huge difference. Their paws get super clean, and they don’t have that dirty smell between their paw pads anymore. If you want to know the brush I use, comment below or send me an email! I bought it super cheap, and I love it! 💌
Now, before I move on to the next tip, I want to tell you a little secret: tip #10 is my favorite, and it’s the foolproof tip to make sure your pet will smell great for days and won’t have problems with dandruff. And let me tell you: I never skip this one! But before that, keep going with the tips and enjoy my everyday tricks!
6. Rinse Your Pet Well
I always remember to rinse Max and Lola well because sometimes shampoo can get stuck in their fur. If this happens, it can irritate their skin. So, the tip is to rinse well until the water runs clean. Max loves this part, it’s like he feels even fresher afterward! 💦
7. Dry Your Pet Properly
Now comes the part Max loves the most: drying! I use fluffy towels to dry them, and they get so warm. Lola, even though she’s more relaxed, loves being wrapped in the towel and gets all cozy. 😍 Never leave your pet wet for too long, or it could cause skin problems.
8. Be Careful with Their Ears
Max has big ears, and Lola has the cutest ears, so both of them always risk accumulating dirt. I always use an ear cleaner specifically for dogs to prevent infections. And believe me, they love the attention! Taking care of their ears is super important, guys.
9. Brush Their Coat After the Bath
After the bath, brushing is essential, especially for Max, who has thicker fur. Lola also loves being brushed, especially because her coat gets super smooth afterward. Brushing their coat helps prevent tangles and gives them that amazing shine! ✨
10. The Best Part: The Final Perfume
And here’s the foolproof tip: after the bath, I always apply a special perfume for pets. I use Lola’s perfume, which keeps her smelling great and also helps control her skin’s oiliness. Max loves it too, and he gets that wonderful pet smell we all love. 💖
If you want to know where I bought it, comment here or send me an email! Max stays smelling wonderful for days. 😍
So, what do you think of the tips? I swear, these tips changed Max and Lola’s bath routine, and now they’re always smelling good and happy. If you have any tips to share, leave them in the comments or send me an email, I love hearing what works for you too! 🐶💬
thank you mary
