1. Sit
This is the foundation for all tricks. Hold a treat above your dog’s nose and move it slowly upwards. Lola nailed it on the first try (she’s so smart 🐾).
2. High-Five 🙌
Once your dog learns to "sit," gently tap their paw while saying "high-five." Max hesitated at first, but after a few tries, he got the hang of it. Now, it's his go-to move to earn treats!
3. Roll
With Max, I started by guiding him to lie down, then used a treat to lure him into rolling. It was hilarious watching him figure it out.
4. Speak 🗣️
Teaching a dog to bark on command can be tricky. I waited until Max barked naturally, said "speak," and rewarded him. Now, he responds every time!
5. Play Dead
Say “bang” and lure your dog to lie on their side. Max does it like an Oscar-winning actor—it's the crowd favorite!
6. Spin
Using a treat, I guided Max in a circle. He spun like a ballerina—adorable!
7. Fetch Specific Items
Lola learned to fetch my slippers by rewarding her every time she brought them back. Max? Well, he prefers fetching toys over work! 😂
8. Hug
Teaching your dog to hug is so heartwarming. Max wraps his paws around my arm whenever I say “hug.”
9. Balance a Treat on Their Nose
This requires patience! I started with a treat on Lola's paw, then moved it to her nose. She stays perfectly still until I say "okay."
10. Wave Goodbye 👋
This is the trick that melts hearts. Start by teaching "high-five," then slowly transition to waving. Lola’s delicate wave is the cutest thing you’ll ever see!
